Denture

Can I chew food as well as with my natural teeth?

A denture's chewing force is only about 20-30% of that of natural teeth, so it will not chew like your own teeth right from the start. By 1) cutting food into small pieces, 2) chewing evenly with the back teeth on both sides, and 3) building the habit of chewing slowly, you will be able to handle most everyday meals. It is best to avoid tough dried squid and hard foods such as ribs or nuts. If you would like more chewing power, you can also ask us about implant-supported dentures, where implants are used to anchor the denture.
