Denture

Will I have speech problems while wearing dentures?

At first your speech may sound slurred or awkward, but for most people it sounds natural again after about 2-4 weeks. This happens because the denture changes the space between your tongue and the roof of your mouth. Reading a book or newspaper aloud every day, and repeatedly practicing sounds that tend to slip — such as "s" and "ch" — will speed up the adjustment. However, if your speech is still slurred after 4 weeks or the denture lifts while you talk, the denture may need adjustment or you may simply need more time to adapt.
