Esthetic/Whitening
Does whitening cause tooth sensitivity?
You may experience temporary sensitivity after whitening, but it usually goes away within 1 to 2 days. This is caused by the whitening agent temporarily irritating the inside of the tooth, and it does not mean the tooth has been damaged. For patients who are likely to experience sensitivity, we recommend desensitizing agents or toothpaste for sensitive teeth, and it is best to avoid very cold or very hot foods for 2 to 3 days after the procedure. However, if sensitivity lasts more than a week or one specific tooth becomes severely painful, it may be due to another cause such as a cavity, so please visit us.
