Esthetic/Whitening
Will whitening damage my teeth?
Professional whitening performed at a dental clinic uses approved-concentration agents under the supervision of a dentist, so it does not shave down the tooth or cause permanent damage. Temporary sensitivity can occur, but it usually resolves within 1 to 2 days. However, 1) if you have cavities or gum inflammation, or 2) if there are cracks in your teeth, those issues must be treated first before whitening. Using high-concentration home whitening products of unclear origin on your own for extended periods is not recommended, as it can irritate the gums and cause sensitivity.
