Denture

Can my dentures fall out when I sneeze or cough?

Yes, it can happen. A sneeze or a big cough creates sudden air pressure and muscle movement inside your mouth that can momentarily dislodge the denture. It helps to cover your mouth with a handkerchief or your hand and gently press on the denture when you feel a cough coming. However, if your denture also slips often during normal talking or laughing, that is a sign it has become loose and needs adjustment such as relining, so please come in. If retention is severely lacking, an implant-supported denture (overdenture) using 2-4 implants is another option to consider.
