Is the denture-making process painful?

The denture fabrication process itself involves almost no pain. There is generally no tooth drilling or anesthesia required, and during impression-taking the only sensation is a feeling of fullness and pressure from the material for about 1-3 minutes. However, if a partial denture requires reshaping the teeth that will hold the clasps, or if any extractions are needed at the same time, those steps are done under local anesthesia so pain is well controlled.
