Denture

What materials are used for dentures (resin, metal, etc.)?

Different materials are used for different parts of a denture. 1) The pink base that sits against the gums is made of denture resin (plastic). 2) The framework or palate areas that need strength are made from a thin, durable metal (metal framework). 3) The artificial teeth are made of resin or porcelain. Dentures with a metal framework can be made thinner, so they tend to feel less bulky in the mouth, while all-resin dentures are less expensive but a bit thicker. For patients aged 65 and older, insurance-covered dentures are made according to a defined material standard.
