Tips for brushing and using interdental brushes during orthodontic treatment?
During orthodontic treatment, the order of brushing matters. 1) Use an orthodontic toothbrush to clean above and below the brackets separately at a 45-degree angle, 2) insert an interdental brush under the wire and between the teeth to remove food debris, and 3) finish with superfloss (orthodontic floss) or a mouth rinse. The basic rule is after every meal, at least 3 times a day. However, if your gums keep bleeding when you brush, or the area around the brackets turns white, it may be an early sign of cavities, so please come in for a check.
