Are extractions always required for orthodontic treatment?

Extraction is not always required for orthodontic treatment. It may be needed when there is a significant lack of space for the teeth to align or when the mouth protrudes considerably, but in many cases non-extraction treatment is possible through 1) slightly polishing the sides of the teeth to create space, 2) moving the molars backward, or 3) expanding the dental arch. Whether extraction is needed is decided after a detailed diagnosis including X-rays and dental model analysis, and after the diagnosis we will explain the pros and cons of both approaches.
