Esthetic/Whitening

Is it more effective to get scaling before whitening?

Yes, we recommend getting a scaling (professional cleaning) before whitening. If tartar and surface stains remain on your teeth, the whitening agent cannot reach the enamel evenly, and the result may look blotchy. Scaling is covered once a year by the National Health Insurance for adults aged 19 and over, so the cost burden is low. Whitening usually begins after your gums have settled following the scaling. However, if you have significant gum inflammation, it is safer to complete gum treatment first and then schedule your whitening.
