Implant
My gums feel hot and swollen since getting my implant. Is this okay?
It depends on timing. Swelling and warmth for 2-4 days right after surgery can be part of normal healing. However, visit us promptly if: 1) swelling or heat persists beyond a week after surgery, 2) the area around an older implant becomes newly swollen and warm, 3) there is pus, bleeding, looseness, or bad odor, or 4) you have fever or body aches. The earlier peri-implantitis is treated, the higher the chance of saving the implant - please do not delay if you have symptoms.
