Denture

When should denture repair (relining, modification) be done?

When your denture starts becoming loose or trapping a lot of food, it is time for a repair (relining or adjustment). The jawbone continues to resorb slowly even while you wear the denture, so a fit check is generally needed every 1-2 years, though this varies depending on your gums. Please visit us to discuss relining (refilling the inside to refit it) when 1) the denture rattles or keeps falling out, 2) certain spots on your gums hurt when chewing, or 3) food gets trapped underneath. However, if the denture base is cracked or chipped, stop using it and bring it in right away.
