The biggest difference is how firmly they stay in place. Conventional dentures rely only on suction against the gums, so they can shift or slip out during use. Implant-supported dentures, on the other hand, are anchored to implants placed in the jawbone (usually at least 2 in the lower jaw and at least 4 in the upper jaw) using locator attachments or clips, giving you stable, reliable function. However, implant surgery and its added cost are required, and in some cases the condition of the jawbone makes this option difficult, so it is best to decide after a thorough diagnostic exam.
