Can I not get an implant if I'm taking osteoporosis medication?

Most patients on osteoporosis medication can still receive implants. That said, bisphosphonates and denosumab can, in rare cases, affect jawbone healing after surgery (medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw), so extra care is needed. Please tell us the name of your medication and how long you have been taking it. When necessary, we will consult with your prescribing physician and pause the medication for a set period before proceeding with surgery. If you have been on long-term injectable therapy, however, pre-treatment evaluation becomes even more important. With proper management, the risk of complications is low, so there is no need to be overly worried.
