Can people in their 70s or 80s have implant surgery?

Yes, age itself isn't a barrier to implants, and patients in their 70s and 80s can absolutely have the surgery. Even with systemic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, treatment can proceed as long as they are well controlled. However, prior evaluation, including consultation with an internal medicine doctor, is needed for 1) poorly controlled diabetes, 2) patients taking anticoagulants or osteoporosis medications, or 3) those with a recent history of cardiovascular treatment. If full-mouth implants feel like too much, alternatives like implant-supported dentures are also available, so we recommend coming in for a consultation.
