Implant

Do I need gum treatment before getting an implant?

Gum treatment isn't always necessary before an implant — it depends on the condition of your gums. 1) If the gums around the planned surgical site are healthy, we can place the implant right away. 2) If there is inflammation, treating the gums first helps reduce the risk of infection and post-surgical discomfort. 3) In some cases, gum treatment is performed at the same time as implant placement. However, placing an implant while periodontitis is left untreated can lead to peri-implantitis, so we will first assess your gum condition at your examination.
