Will speaking be very uncomfortable initially during orthodontic treatment? I work in a service job.

During the 1-2 week adjustment period after the appliance is placed, your speech may feel a bit awkward and the inside of your mouth may get sore, but most people adapt naturally. If you talk a lot in a service job, you can consider 1) labial (outer-side) wire braces, which have no appliance on the inner surface where your tongue touches, or 2) clear aligners, which affect speech relatively little. Covering spots that rub against the appliance with orthodontic wax also helps. However, if speech difficulty or sores remain severe after 2 weeks, the appliance may need adjusting, so please visit us.
