Esthetic/Whitening

Can I whiten my teeth while pregnant or breastfeeding?

We recommend postponing tooth whitening until after pregnancy and breastfeeding are complete. There is no proven harm to the fetus or baby from whitening agents, but because their safety has not been sufficiently studied, the general recommendation is to postpone non-urgent cosmetic procedures. In addition, hormonal changes during pregnancy can make the gums more sensitive, so the whitening agent may cause more irritation. However, gum care such as scaling can still be done during pregnancy, so we suggest postponing whitening and focusing on oral hygiene management first.
