How many sessions does root canal treatment take?
Root canal treatment usually takes 2-3 visits, scheduled about a week apart, so it wraps up in around 2-3 weeks. The inside of the canals needs to be fully cleaned and the inflammation needs to settle down before the final filling can be placed. 1) If the infection is mild and the canal anatomy is simple, it can be finished in 1-2 visits. 2) If the inflammation is severe, or for molars with 3-4 complex canals, it can take 4 or more visits. After root canal treatment, a crown or other prosthetic treatment is often needed, so we will walk you through the full schedule during your consultation.
