Wisdom Tooth

When can I eat after wisdom tooth extraction?

You can eat once the anesthesia has fully worn off, usually 2-3 hours after extraction. Eating while still numb risks biting your cheek or tongue, so please wait. 1) Start with soft foods like lukewarm porridge or soup, 2) avoid hot, spicy, or hard foods for 2-3 days, and 3) skip straws, alcohol, and smoking, as they interfere with clotting. Chewing on the opposite side of the extraction helps keep food out of the wound. However, if bleeding continues after eating, bite down on clean gauze for 30 minutes, and if it still does not stop, please come in.
