Denture
Are dentures covered by National Health Insurance for those age 65 and older?
Yes, patients aged 65 and older are covered by national health insurance for both complete and partial dentures. The patient copay is 30% of the cost, while Medical Aid Type 1 pays 5% and Type 2 pays 15%. As a rule, insurance applies once every 7 years per arch (upper/lower jaw), although exceptions can be granted within 7 years if the oral condition has changed substantially. A set number of repairs (such as relining) after delivery is also covered, and we will walk you through what is included during your consultation.
