Is resin treatment covered by insurance?

For adults, resin fillings for cavities are not covered by the National Health Insurance and are classified as non-covered (out-of-pocket) treatment. However, since 2019, resin fillings for cavities on permanent teeth in children aged 12 and under have been covered by the National Health Insurance, reducing the patient's out-of-pocket cost. Baby teeth are not covered by the resin insurance benefit, and areas that have worn down or fractured (rather than decayed) may be subject to different coverage conditions. Even for the same cavity, depending on the location and extent, we may be able to use a different insurance-covered material (such as glass ionomer), so we can discuss the options during your visit.
