How many sessions of gum treatment are needed?
Gum treatment is usually performed by dividing the mouth into 2 to 6 sections, so you will typically need 2 to 4 visits. Each session takes about 30 minutes, and the number of visits may increase depending on the extent and depth of periodontitis. After treatment, we reassess your gum condition 4 to 6 weeks later, and if deep periodontal pockets remain, additional treatment such as periodontal surgery may be needed. After that, regular maintenance every 3 to 6 months is the most important factor in preventing recurrence.
