My gums seem to have receded after gum treatment. Why?
There is no need to worry. The gum, which was swollen due to inflammation, is now returning to its original level as the swelling goes down after treatment - this is a natural process and a sign that the inflammation is settling down properly. As the gum recedes back to its normal position, more of the tooth root may be exposed, which can cause temporary sensitivity or make the tooth look longer. These symptoms usually settle down gradually over several weeks. However, if the sensitivity remains severe for more than a month, we can perform a treatment to reduce it, so please come in and let us know.
