Implant
It has been more than a week since my implant surgery and I still have pain. Is this normal?
It's not unusual for some pain to linger past a week. Post-surgery pain is usually most intense on day 2 or 3 and then gradually decreases, but if bone grafting was performed or the surgical area was extensive, mild pain can continue for 1 to 2 weeks. If the pain is steadily becoming weaker, it's most likely a normal part of recovery. However, please visit us right away if 1) the pain stays at the same intensity for more than a week without easing, 2) it gets progressively worse, or 3) it's accompanied by swelling, pus, or fever, as these may indicate inflammation.
