Is scaling covered by health insurance?

Yes, from age 19 the National Health Insurance covers one scaling per year. With coverage, your out-of-pocket cost is roughly 10,000 to 20,000 won depending on the type of institution, and the annual count resets every January 1 (National Health Insurance standard). Unused coverage does not carry over to the following year, so we recommend making sure you use your annual scaling. Even if you have already had your covered scaling for the year, if another scaling is needed for a medical reason such as gum disease, that additional scaling can also be covered by the National Health Insurance.
