I could hear everything during sedation. Was I really sedated?

Yes, that is normal. Dental sedation (conscious sedation) is not general anesthesia; it keeps you in a light sleep without complete loss of consciousness, so you may hear sounds and respond to instructions. What it does is reduce anxiety and fear, and most people remember little of the procedure, while pain is controlled separately with local anesthesia. Because consciousness is maintained, recovery is quick and you can go home the same day. However, if you were very uncomfortable during the procedure, tell us so we can adjust the depth of sedation next time.
