Is it good to brush right after eating?

After an ordinary meal you can brush right away. After acidic foods, though - fruit, carbonated drinks, dishes with vinegar - it is better to wait about 30 minutes. Scrubbing enamel that acid has temporarily softened can wear it away. While you wait, 1) rinse your mouth with water and 2) chew sugar-free gum to increase saliva and neutralize the acid. However, if waiting 30 minutes is not practical, brushing gently is better than skipping it.
