Why are intraoral photographs and X-rays taken?

They are taken to make an accurate diagnosis by showing what the eye cannot see - tooth roots, cavities between teeth, and the condition of the supporting bone. 1) A panoramic X-ray shows all the teeth and the jawbones in one image, revealing cavities, periodontal disease, and the position of wisdom teeth. 2) A CT scan shows bone thickness and nerve position in three dimensions before an implant or a wisdom tooth extraction. 3) Intraoral photographs record the state before and after treatment and are used when explaining it to you. The radiation dose from dental X-rays is very low, and if you are pregnant, let us know in advance and we will adjust what is taken.
