Can elderly people undergo sedation?
Yes, age by itself is not a reason you cannot have sedation. Even at an advanced age it is possible if your blood pressure, breathing, and heart condition are stable. Before treatment we 1) review your medications and medical conditions, 2) assess vital signs such as blood pressure and oxygen saturation, and 3) consult your physician when needed, and during sedation we continuously monitor oxygen saturation and blood pressure. However, if you have severe heart or lung disease or an uncontrolled medical condition, we may recommend treatment under local anesthesia instead.
