I'm taking aspirin. Do I have to stop it for treatment?

Do not stop taking aspirin on your own. Before surgery that involves bleeding, such as an extraction or an implant, stopping for 5 to 7 days is sometimes necessary, but whether to stop and for how long must be decided together with the physician who prescribed it. If you take it because of a cardiac stent or a similar condition, stopping may carry the greater risk, so in some cases we keep you on the medication and strengthen local measures to control bleeding instead. Simple procedures such as scaling can usually be done without stopping it.
