I'm pregnant. Can I get dental treatment?
Yes, you can have dental treatment while pregnant, and the safest time is the second trimester (weeks 14 to 27). 1) Routine care such as scaling and fillings is best done in the second trimester, 2) X-rays can be taken with a lead apron in place, and 3) severe pain or infection takes priority and is treated as an emergency regardless of timing. The stress of enduring pain is worse for the baby, so please do not put treatment off, and be sure to tell us that you are pregnant and how many weeks along you are.
